Edinburgh’s Old Town has a maze of cobbled alleyways overlooked by the sturdy Edinburgh Castle. The New Town has much to be admired from the Georgian buildings to the museums and art galleries.
Edinburgh has many interesting places to visit such as the The Scottish parliament building designed by the Catalan architect Enric Miralles on the site of a former brewery. The palace of Holyrood house is the royal family’s official residence in Scotland, but is more famous as the 16th-century home of the ill-fated Mary, Queen of Scots. St Giles Cathedral dates back to the 15th century, but much of it was restored in the 19th century and is certainly worth a visit
There are many gardens and parks to explore including the very old and respected Royal Botanic Garden
